about

Today I'm releasing the first of a series entitled "Dedicated to the Dedicated", where I'll be releasing albums of some instrumentals that I've produced for other artists. First up is a collection of songs that have a deep sentimental value to me. These are the songs I produced for Bria Bueno, who would later go on to become Baby Goth. We first got in touch because some kid who was a fan of my darker stuff was being a smartass and tagging me in her posts where she was looking for a producer. "How funny would it be if you produced her?" Wettworker's in its infantile stages (even now), so I hadn't yet flexed my range. He was being silly, but after scoping her out I saw a sincerity in her lyricism and a tremendous amount of heart and talent - and a challenge. So I reached out to her. We meshed super well. I gave her an instrumental as a tester and it became a single called "Outcast Anthem". She then hit me up to produce an entire 6 song EP for her. Her goal was to make something that sounded cutesy, but evil, and sad yet playful. I envisioned a haunted toybox and all of the noises that would bring to the table. She loved it. I loved every second working on this record over the course of a month. This record was my entire life. Piecing it together with my favourite collaborator, Mat Vass, we put our all into this and treated it like a full-time job. She wasn't rich or famous yet, but she had a vision, and it was my duty to make that vision become a reality. And she was insanely grateful and kind the entire way through. She had amazing input. Her songs had deep, dark subtext about trauma but were masked in childlike metaphor, and I feel we served a perfect sonic aesthetic and emotion for the subject matter. What we made together became a stepping stone to go on to give her a big, booming career as an artist and I could not express how happy that I have become for her. This record was one of the most fun rides I've ever been on, and the soundtrack to one of the happiest periods of my life, and listening back to it fills be with a sense of accomplishment and joy, but also heartbreak to know that such a perfect, beautiful era over. Thank you @babygoth for the memories.

about

Wettworker Vancouver, British Columbia

By hyperbolating the mass culture's trending themes of sexuality, violence, and comedy, Wettworker makes an intentionally affectated reflection of pop-culture that serves as metaphor. Aware that the current state of popular music is codependent on the idolarty and fetishization of personalities, he opts to render the essential component in that formula missing:

Himself.

This is meta-rap.
